Michelle Bolton, LPC-S
Licensed Professional Counselor
Licensed Professional Supervising Counselor
Michelle enjoys working with a wide variety of populations and issues, with an emphasis on helping them build self-awareness, increase self-confidence, and improve relationships with others. She enjoys working with women who are having difficulty dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, work/life balance, or the multiple roles and challenges of life. She is challenging yet affirming with adolescents who are having trouble with bullying, anger, relationships, identity, or academic issues. She has experience with helping caregivers deal with the many stressors and grief involved in taking care of loved ones in the home.
Michelle’s counseling approach is to develop goals cooperatively, considering each person’s personal challenges and strengths, and to work towards those goals step by step, introducing concepts and skill practice incrementally. She emphasizes concepts of mindfulness, emotion regulation, and personal empowerment to help clients reach their goals. She draws from client-centered, dialectical-behavioral, and cognitive-behavioral techniques.
Michelle has been counseling since 2006. She has worked in inpatient, emergent, and outpatient settings with adults, adolescents, and children. She has worked in community mental health for 8 years in a variety of roles, both as a clinical therapist and as a supervisor. Her focus has always been on providing the best possible care and improving the lives of her clients.
